Academics

We foster experiential knowledge and rigorous academics to serve the higher goal of loving the Lord and our neighbors.

Daily Focus on the Lord

We begin each day with worship. Beginning each day focusing on the Lord and His Word supports all of what we do at WNCS.

Our students are introduced to various subjects in each major branch of science: Physical, Biological, and Earth Science.

Along with phonics and comprehension, our teachers instill a love of reading and literature that can support lifelong learning and joy.

Our history curriculum inspires students with an affection for different cultures, and shows how the Lord's Providence draws us closer to Him.

From counting bears and playing math games to solving complex equations in the upper grades, math teaches students to think logically and systematically.

Students channel their creativity through writing in a wide variety of styles, as well as practicing analytical and presenting skills.

Small multi-grade homerooms ensure that each child is known and supported in his or her individual strengths and interests across all subjects.

Unlike many schools, we do not teach to the test.

We do not give frequent standardized tests. To ensure students are advancing and compare each child to national peer-group norms, we use the Iowa Test of Basic Skills each year.

Select grades also complete the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test), which measures different types of reasoning skills across subjects. Teachers use this information to identify stronger and weaker learning modes for particular students.

As a private religious school we are exempt from state or county supervision. However, we have regular seminars and support visits from Master Teachers and administrators from the General Church (near Philadelphia) to ensure continually growing excellence from our faculty.
