Math

We build mathematical thinking from a young age. Students memorize addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, which helps build number sense and free their thinking for higher-level tasks.

We use numbers in real-life situations, such as woodworking or meal-planning, to engage students in the use of their knowledge.

We use patterns and creativity to develop the visual and spatial centers of our brains, and to connect the two hemispheres in productive activity.

7th and 8th graders use a method called Building Thinking Classrooms to practice using logic and problem-solving skills, rather than simply mimicking mathematical steps their instructor tells them to follow.
