Performing Arts

At our school, unlike larger schools, all students participate in performing arts. Whether putting on a play, a puppet show, a concert, or a speech, every student has a part.

The youngest students learn and practice small plays like "The Story of Peter Rabbit," for which they create puppets and perform for an audience. They also participate in our annual Christmas variety show.

We all look forward to the Greek play. The 3rd and 4th grades make puppets of the various Greek gods and goddesses and create the scenery. They then invite their parents and younger classes to a performance of their student-written play. Its always a treat!

Grades 5 - 8 have many opportunities to perform.
The 5th & 6th students traditionally present a piece with hand bells during our Christmas Program.  They are also a big part of the WNCS Choir, and perform at various times like the Black History month concert and throughout the year singing religious or gospel music for our Sunday service.

They also get their first chance at having a small acting parts in the annual school play.

Grades 7 -8 perform frequently. They play guitars and sing with the WNCS Choir. They occasionally get the opportunity to give speeches or have debates. The icing on the cake for them is that they finally get the leads in the annual school play!

About every 5 years our students perform in the annual Christmas pageant for the school and church community, which includes beautiful instrumental and vocal music provided by the students.
