The mission of the Washington New Church School is to provide spiritual, moral and academic instruction so that the whole child is educated. Teachers work closely with parents to provide holistic education that supports emotional, social, physical, and academic skills, ensuring each child will grow to achieve his or her personal potential.
Our Lord’s Word is the framework we use to achieve this, and the teachings drawn from His Word are integrated into every aspect of school life.
Academically, students are taught that the Lord is the source and design of all they learn.
Socially, they are trained to respect and serve their neighbors.
Practically, they are taught to seek usefulness and take responsibility for themselves and the upkeep of their school.
Morally, they learn how to stand up for what's right and use their abilities to help those around them.
For the benefit of our own spiritual growth and that of others, at our church we provide...
- Public and private worship services, including all the rites and sacraments of the New Church;
- Classes, discussion groups, and a complete elementary education that promote understanding and life according to the spiritual sense of the Word;
- Opportunities for mutual support in the hard work of repentance and reformation;
- Civic and social events that promote an atmosphere of spiritual love and moral wisdom.
Our curriculum is founded in religion and executed by compassionate professionals teaching children how to succeed in this world and the next.
Our school mission is intrinsically tied to our church's mission: to provide a home to those who seek to love the Lord and the neighbor. Accordingly, our school's vision and purpose has the same fundamentals as our church's vision and purpose: quite simply, to enlighten and educate people to love living a good life of use and happiness in accordance with the Word.
We cordially and enthusiastically invite you to join us in this mission! We offer opportunities for leadership and service of all kinds, from simple maintenance work to membership of the Board of Trustees, from hospitality to critical office work, from ushering at worship services to teaching in Sunday School, community outreach, and much more.
You do not have to be a formal member of the church to do many of these things, but we welcome new members from all walks of life. We believe that the perfection of heaven and of the church is achieved through the variety of perspectives, talents and uses that many different people bring into it. Come and see.
