About the Washington New Church

The School's parent organization is the Washington New Church a local congregation of the New Church International offering worship services, programs and activities and operating the Washington New Church school one of the church's primary uses.

The New Church offers a unique perspective on what it means to be a Christian.  We believe the Lord God Jesus Christ is the One God of heaven and earth, Who created and maintains the universe and everything in it with an ultimately loving, eternal purpose.  We believe that only when we live our lives according to our religious beliefs can we be saved (that is, healthy and well), therefore being saved is a life-long process of self-examination, repentance, reformation and regeneration.

The doctrines of the New Church are based on the teachings of the Bible as illuminated by Emanuel Swedenborg, an eighteenth century theologian and scientist.  Swedenborg’s writing explains the symbolism in the Bible so we can see within it a detailed description of the Lord, why we are here on earth, and how to re-form our own spiritual lives so that He can give us eternal happiness.  The teachings of the New Church are immediately practical and deeply spiritual and provide answers that make sense to many questions about God, love, life here and life after death.

At the Washington New Church we are able to offer worship services, social and educational programs and activities as well as an excellent school system from Junior Kindergarten through grade 8.
