Students enjoy a warm family atmostphere

DSC_0116At WNCS classes often do projects together – often older students share what they have learned with younger ones. As the students learn at developmentally appropriate levels they encounter similar subject matter again as they go through the school.  Because of that teacher will “buddy” a few classes so younger children can learn from the older ones.DSC_0006

For example:  The 3rd and 4th grade study and raise butterflies while at the same time the Kindergarten are learning about insects.  There are many opportunities for the two homerooms to work together, learn together – by going to the butterfly pavilion in DC or the 3rd & 4th inviting the younger children to watch the release of the newly emerged painted lady butterflies.
